What is the difference between blade irons and cavity irons?

My handicap is 12 and I feel more comfortable of hitting blade irons, should I continue to use cavity irons or change them to blade irons?

I've used blades for about 15 years. People always say blades are harder to hit, and if you miss the sweet spot you'll go astray. It's not exactly true. Blades these days are more forgiving than the Wilson blade 20-30 years ago. I used Mizuno MS 203 for sometimes, and those were the full blown blades that are not forgive. Try Tittleist 690 MB, Mizuno MP 33 or even the newest Titleist I 695 MB. These are forged blades. Go the site below and view the spec, they have little tubes at the neck that can absorb vibrations on the mishit as well.

I used to carry Titleist 981, which are not blades just in case my swing gone bad, but later I found that fixing a swing is the better way that compensatng with equipments. I've people using high-tech very expensive equipments with swing that is tormenting to look at just to prouduce a so so result. Fixing your swing to hit a good blade is much better way to hit a golf ball.

Besides, once you're comfortable with them, you'll enjoy an approach that once in a while a birdie tap in is possible. Once you can move the ball from left to right or right to left, and see them bounce a bit and check to a full stop, it's really good feeling. Play blades if you can, besides they look really good, too.

How do I reduce hitting off the toe of my irons?

I just got some new Mizuno MX-25 irons, +1/2 inch in length, and bent 2 degrees upright.

I never really had a problem hitting off the toe of my old clubs which were standard length and standard loft.

But, even with the new irons bent +2, I'm hitting 60% of my irons off the toe. Is it my swing that needs to adjust to the longer irons or do they need to be bent upright even more? I'm not ready to ditch them yet either.

I agree that you could be too far away from the ball at address, but it could also be that you have developed a shoulder drop in your back shoulder, or that you have started swing a little more out to in with your new clubs.

Go to the driving range and first try following through high and at the target, if that does not help you, then try to move the ball a little closer to you.

The thing is that if you have longer irons and try to maintain the previous ball position from your old clubs, you should either be hitting of the hostle or digging a very deep divot, not hitting off the toe. I believe that something in your swing has changed with the new clubs and it could be because of the different weight, even though it is a minor difference, it can still have an effect on your swing.

What type of irons should a 16 year old 6 handicaper get?

I play the Taylormade r7 cavity pack irons and want to become the best golfer that I can be. I am a 6 handicap and am looking to get better. I can hit draws and fades easilly. I was thinking about getting a second job so that I can get the Callaway X forged irons. Or forged irons in general.

You have to have premier ball striking ability to play forged irons. There are too many consequences for hitting a bad shot. Stick with you Taylormades and work on you short game. Anything from 100 yards and in. I thought just like you did. I was always one the range trying to hit golf balls and improve my swong to improve my scores and handicap. If you work on getting up and down and making the putts you should make (ie 5 footers) strokes will jump off of your scores.
