I'm starting a job soon at a golf course and they want to take me out and make sure I can properly mow a green and "see if I have it". Is there any tips on how I can do a better job, or anything of that sort? Thanks in advance
Depending on the mower they give you, hand mower self propelled or green mowing machine the mowing is usually done perpendicular to the tee markers. Then mow strip after strip leaving less than a mower width uncut both at the start and the finish, When the whole green has been mowed, mow the uncut edge going right around the whole green. I have only practiced at the shooting range and I have never stepped foot on a golf course. How do you know where to start and how do you know what hole to advance to next?
Probably best to find a friend who has played some golf and let him sort of guide you around the first time. It isn't too difficult and most courses are marked fairly well, but until you've done it a few times best to have a guide along.
